When the Mind Takes Over: Returning to Presence in the Midst of Ego Spirals
Aug 29, 2025When the Mind Is Loud and the Path Feels Unclear
There are moments on the spiritual path that don’t feel graceful or easeful. They feel messy. They feel uncertain. They feel like spirals of fear, doubt, and inner chaos. This is what I call an ego relapse... when the mind gets loud, the nervous system is activated, and you find yourself trying to control everything again instead of trusting the divine unfolding.
You might recognize it too…
The looping thoughts.
The constant questioning.
The stories that pull you away from your truth and deeper knowing.
It’s in these moments, when your mind is trying to make sense of it all, when your reality feels like it's shifting under your feet, when you’re gripped by fear and doubt, those are the hardest moments to hear the quiet voice of your soul. But it’s also when you need that voice the most.
The ego will always try to protect you through control, judgment, or over-analysis. It wants to keep you safe by keeping you small, contracted, or stuck in what’s familiar. But there comes a point where you realize that safety doesn’t come from certainty, it comes from presence.
And presence only exists here and now, not in the mind. But in the body. In the breath. In the moment.
How I Found My Way Back
Recently, I found myself in one of those spirals. I hadn’t recorded a podcast for two weeks. I felt off-center, tangled in thoughts, pulled into the illusion that I needed to figure it all out before moving forward. I judged myself for it. Questioned everything. And underneath it all was the same old fear: Am I doing enough? Can I really trust this path?
But instead of forcing clarity or pushing through, I let myself pause. I allowed the noise. I witnessed the ego’s grasp. And eventually, I softened. I surrendered. I came back to presence.
Because the truth is, you don’t need to think your way to clarity. You need to feel your way back to alignment.
In that stillness, a deeper message began to move through me... one I knew I needed to share, even though the audio wasn’t perfect, even though I almost didn’t release it.
Returning to Your Soul's Truth
What I’ve learned through these ego relapses is that they don’t mean you’re failing. They mean you’re expanding. The parts of you that are surfacing, the fear, doubt, grief, confusion, are not evidence that you’re broken. They’re evidence that you’re shedding old ways of being and stepping into new levels of embodiment.
And it’s okay to wobble as you do.
You can be in the process and still be a guide.
You can feel uncertain and still be on path.
You can fall apart and still be deeply held.
The invitation in those moments is to not make yourself wrong. To stay in curiosity. To remember that even the most uncomfortable seasons are calling you back to your true self.
A Powerful Reminder
You are not your thoughts. You are not your circumstances. You are not the fear that loops in your mind. You are the presence that witnesses it all. You are the one who gets to choose again. And the moment you remember that, the moment you soften into truth, everything begins to shift.
So if you’re in that space right now, if fear has taken hold, if doubt feels heavy, if you’ve lost your way... I see you. I’ve been there too. And this week’s podcast is for you.
